You might be wondering...

  • What is the difference between garden design and plant design?

Garden design involves the layout and composition of a garden, while plant design focuses specifically on the selection and arrangement of plants within a garden. Both disciplines are essential to creating a beautiful and functional garden or landscape.

  • What time of year should I start planting?

The best time to start planting depends on the climate and the specific plants you want to grow. In general, planting during the spring or fall when temperatures are mild, and there is adequate moisture is ideal.
However, some plants may require planting in different seasons or may need to be started indoors before being transplanted outside. It's always best to research the specific requirements of your chosen plants and for advice on the best planting times in your area.

  • I don't know how to draw to scale - does that matter?

Being able to draw accurately and to scale is an important skill when preparing a garden master plan, elevation drawings and hand-drawn sketches to explore design alternatives. It allows you to visualise what you are trying to achieve and as well as accurately estimate material quantities and costs. You can then make adjustments to your design to fit within your project budget. This takes the guesswork out of gardening, and helps you avoid costly mistakes.

Check out my course on Basic Drafting Skills to learn how to draw accurately to scale.

  • Do you have a money-back guarantee?

Yes! We're confident that our courses will help you build the skills and knowledge you're looking for. If, after 14 days, you feel that the course you've chosen isn't a good fit for you, you're fully protected by our 14-day no questions, no quibble, 100% money-back guarantee.

  • Is there a possibility of one-on-one consultations or feedback from the instructor?

One-to-one feedback isn't available right now. A new tiered offering with this benefit will be added in the future.

  • I don't know where to start. Which course should I choose?

We recommend that you start with Mastering Design Fundamentals. All other courses will build on the skills and knowledge that you learn here.

  • Are there any quizzes, assignments, or evaluations during the courses to test my progress?

Yes, each course will include 6 downloadable assignments that gradually build your knowledge and design skills

  • What materials or tools will I need to participate in the courses?

The materials and tools required depend on the courses that you have enrolled in, so check the requirements on the course pages when you sign up.
For all courses, you will need basic drafting supplies, e.g. trace paper, A4 (8 1/2" x 11") and/or Tabloid (11" x 17") paper, coloured pencils or markers, ink pens OR markers of various widths, OR pencils (2HB, 3HB, 4HB).

  • How long will I have access to the course materials once I enrol?

Once you subscribe, you will have lifetime access to all courses (and any new content that we create for them). So you can revisit your classes whenever you need a refresher.
